I will defend it as best as I can because this album is freaking great, and even tho it's not their best album, it's a logical evolution of Alcest and it definitely has their sound.
I wrote it almost for every song but really you may not like the record as an Alcest but you can't deny it's a beautiful and relaxing top post rock album. So if there's something you may have noted from my review is the word "RELAXING". So let's go deeper into the songs, so you have an idea of what I'm trying to explain in vain because I can't find the words. In fact they're coming back to the "happy" sound as on Souvenirs D'un Autre Monde, but into the post rock style, which give us some excellent tracks as Opale, Shelter or Into The Waves for example. It's not their best but it's definitely worth listening to because there are some amazing tracks there. Of course, I'm happy they're coming back to a post black sound with screams and all on Kodama, but really there's no reason (imo of course, I shouldn't have to note that but I'm never sure with some people here who don't accept that opinions may differ) for the disappointment on this album. I will defend it as an amazing album, because Alcest never disappoints and this record is no exception. wrong reference) I wasn't even disappointed. When I first listen to it, I will agree I was expecting some tremolo riffs or blast beats, but in the end (it doesn't even matters, oh sorry. But it's an amazing post rock album, and some people find it lame because they had abandoned their post black signature sound.

Of course here you won't have any black metal or post black music, it's a full shoegaze/post rock album. They've been softer with every album, but still you know that you're listening to Alcest when you hear the songs. This record is, again, the logical evolution of Alcest sound.
Indeed, the general atmosphere is happy and hopeful (the lyrical theme is the sea, also, for you information, whatever) and also very relaxing. You can guess the atmosphere just by the illustration, very luminous. Before going on a track to track analysis, I will express my general about the whole album, as usual in fact.įirst of all the cover of the album.
